Get good food and contribute to your community!

If you live in Alameda County, and if you meet the requirements, you can volunteer your time and get a big 15lb bag of food in exchange. And, you have just spent a few hours making the world you live in a better place. What a sweet deal! For more info:

  • Alameda County Community Food Bank: call the Volunteer Manager at (510) 635 3663 x 308.

You can find emergency food by contacting the Food Banks below:

Alameda County:

  • Call the Food Bank's Food Helpline at 1-800-870-3663 (FOOD) for emergency food referrals.

Call the Food Helpline for a free referral to a nearby soup kitchen or food pantry, and for food program information including summer lunch, school meals, food stamps, Meals on Wheels, WIC (Women, Infants and Children), and USDA food. Helpline Hours: Monday - Friday, 9 am - 12 pm and 1 pm - 4 pm, or email them with your address and zip code at helpline@accfb.org and they will answer within 24 hours.


San Francisco County:

  • Neighborhood Grocery Network Program through the SF Food Bank offers food to citizens in local neighborhoods. Food Pantries provide free groceries every week, including fresh produce, dry goods and USDA surplus foods. Food pantries are located everywhere. Meal Programs provide free hot meals every day of the week. Call HELPLINK at (415) 808-HELP or 1-800-273-6222 from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm, Monday - Friday.

San Mateo County

  • Second Harvest Food Bank provides food for San Mateo and San Benito county programs. Low-income people of all ages are welcome, regardless of immigration status. Call 1-800-984-3663. The call is free. The food is free.
