How to start a basic exercise routine
From LifePortal Content Wiki
Have you been wanting to get out and get active? Get back in shape? Has 10 lbs crept out of nowhere, but you’re slightly too intimidated to start heading to the gym daily or feel the only way to get in great shape is with a trainer or a coach? Well, it’s much easier than you think.
Tips:
- Start slow- there’s no need to run a marathon your first week exercising let alone ever.
- If it is cardio, start at 20-30 min increments then work your way up.
- If you are lifting stick with what you can do at lower increments. You do not want to be in pain.
- Do not over exert yourself so you do not want to work out later in the week (that truly does nothing for your body).
- Initially aim to work out 3 times a week, but if that doesn’t happen, don’t be discouraged, even once a week is better than nothing.
- Pick a time of day you’re going to work out and commit to it like it’s a job or a class.
- Find an exercise routine that you enjoy, so you are not dreading it.
- Join a dance group, work out class, or team (if you can) so you are expected to go.
- Drink plenty of water before you work out and after, not too much during.
- Eat balanced meals for energy.
