Some jobs do not require a resume, but you have to fill in an application. Though they can be daunting, these are usually quite simple. The application is your 'first impression' so make it a good one!

  • Take your time and print legibly! If there is an electronic copy available to type into, use that!
  • Answer the entire question briefly and accurately
  • They may ask for a very detailed work history. It will help in the future if you keep track, say in a notebook, of your start end ending dates, pay rates, supervisors and employer contact information. This will make filling in future applications a breeze!
  • Find out when the application is due. if you turn it in late, it will go to the bottom of the pile, or in the trash can.
  • Find out how they want it turned in. If you bring it in person to the workplace, dress professionally. If you mail it, be sure you put enough postage on the envelope.
